High-temperature alloy spring wires such as A286 and the Inconel® series are specifically engineered for spring applications that must maintain strength, elasticity, and fatigue resistance under extreme temperature and corrosive operating conditions.
A286, an iron-nickel-chromium precipitation-hardening alloy, provides excellent mechanical properties and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to approximately 700°C (1300°F), making it a popular choice for aerospace, gas turbine, automotive exhaust, and industrial processing equipment springs.
Inconel alloys, including Inconel 600, 625, 718, and X-750, offer even greater resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and creep at elevated temperatures, making them ideal for critical applications in jet engines, nuclear power systems, oil and gas equipment, and chemical processing plants.
These alloys retain a high percentage of their spring force and dimensional stability under prolonged thermal exposure, where conventional stainless steel and carbon steel spring wires would experience significant loss of performance. As a result, high-temperature alloy spring wires are selected for mission-critical applications requiring long service life, reliability, and consistent spring behavior in severe thermal and corrosive environments.
